The 10 Hottest Restaurants In Anchorage
1. Fish & Forest
This river-to-table restaurant has already won several awards, thanks in large part to their signature style of cooking fish very quickly, over a specially-made extremely hot stove. The stove is REALLY hot, so as an added benefit, it gets really hot in here.
2. Upriver Bistro
You may have heard about the unfortunate kitchen damage at Upriver last year that forced the restaurant to shut down for several months. The good news is owner Johnson Thule spent the winter doing repairs, and in doing so, put in some great new insulation. Now the place is straight up toasty.
3. Fairbanks Tavern
Fairbanks is actually America’s coldest city, but this Fairbanks-inspired burger and beer spot has a state of the art heating system. Leave your second parka at home.
4. Jasper’s Restaurant
If you’ve ever been to Jasper’s, you know how small that place is. More bodies in a small space = more warmth. The chili is pretty good, too.
5. The Red Fox
Windows are the enemy of heat retention, and fortunately, The Red Fox doesn’t have any.
6. Sweetwater Café
The last time we went to Sweetwater Cafe, we had some pretty good minestrone, and we can report it was not cold inside.
7. Two Taps Brewhouse
This gastropub on the north side of town recently updated its menu (try the soft pretzel with spicy mustard!) and also installed central heating, provided by Mountain View HVAC Installers LLC (SPONSORED)
8. Stew’s Harborside Inn
Two words: fire place. Or is it one word?
9. Flame
Goddamnit, this place actually needs to turn their heat down. We get that warmth is the theme of your restaurant, but the beer mugs do not need to be wearing sweaters.
10. Jeffrey’s Hip Hop Burgers & Shakes
Honestly, our brother-in-law opened a 90s hip hop-themed burger place (cool idea, we know) a few months ago, and we promised him we’d sneak him onto the bottom of a list that no one would read anyway. Not sure what the temperature situation is in here.
